CUTS.

This is my other piece, some vinyl cut out and stuck up on the window at the front of the gallery. That window is 5m sq. and very high up. I had to be on the top step of the biggest ladder. A little before and after pic.

EXCHANGE. PRIVATE VIEW.

Here are some pictures of our private view for EXCHANGE, our final exhibition at Nagoya University of Arts. It was so nerv-wracking as I`m sure my face shows! We each had to give a little speech about our work and I totally lost my confidence, stood rod still and stared at my piece of paper for the full 2 min 12 seconds I was speaking. Shelly, Lucy and Anna all were amazingly confident and gave their speeches perfectly! We `made` scones too with jam and butter which seemed to go down very well, and quickly actually. Can you see all the tables of food? I ate pretty much all of it. The other 147 people there didnt get a look in.

BORING BITS.

Heres a few images of some work I`ve been doing directly onto windows and, as I like to accurately call them, building bits.

With the printmaking woodcut show now uninstalled and finished its time to start thinking about our final exhibition, EXCHANGE. Had a little play on indesign last night and got the poster made. Now for the hard bit, getting my work made...

FABRIC OF THE BUILDING.

Just a few student projects around Uni. One of the massive benefits to not having any health and safety or nagging from the only employees of Brighton University who were shirts and suit trousers about the `fabric of the building`, is that if you want to hang something off the cealing to see what its like, do it. First images are of a textile project and the other is KEEP OUT tape used to mock the meaning of barriers and signage.

PEAKED.

I have been working so hard here and I`m finding that my influences are coming form what`s around me but also things that I`ve seen and stored in a sort of mental image bank and are now filtering into my current work. One such thing is the work of Nigel Peake. He is an illustrator, artist, and wonderkid who studied architecture at Edinburgh and now has the coolest back catalogue of projects and works. His website is okay but his blog is better. Check it.

GALLERIED.

At university one building houses the gallery which is used by students (I have a show on 17th May and one at the beginning of July) and by visiting artists, tutors and such like. We went to have a snoop around, mostly to have a look at the space (which is huge) and eye up what would be expected of us. In there at the moment is some some students work and a piece by one of the tutors on the production of meat. You are given a delicate paper animal and go through the stages of production, slowly destroying the paper animal. I thought it was brill.

We also went to the Aichi Arts Centre to have a peak at some of the work in there. It is huge! We met a nice lady who offered for us to come to her studio and see her work.
