So we started back at university this week which is very exciting. I had a meeting about my second year and it was very very exciting. But the most exciting event I was at, was the freshers fair today with some lovely WI ladies trying to recruit new members (the girls got 200 people to sign up!) and the fresh-faced beauties who were there made me very excited for the up coming WI events.
Over the summer I started a few craft projects to avoid doing actual work. Some were more successful than others but what with the revival of Brighton University WI I thought it might be nice to share them.
Today it is the turn of the abolishment of Blue Tack. I decided my new room in my new house should be more grown up so I put picture frames up instead of just blue tacking pictures of my friends. No friends, no blue tack. JOKE. Still no blue tack.
Over the summer I tried to make sure I did some drawing. Partly to keep myself entertained but also to help me start thinking about what it is I want to achieve in my work this year. So I started drawing what was around me and as a result, most of it was of rooms and windows in my Boyfriend's house and the odd photograph I liked. I really want to work on the quality of line in my work which I feel is a little stale.
I tend to find that whilst I'm trying to work out something in my work, I get infatuated with particular artists. Hockney is my flava of the month. I never much liked his paintings particularly, maybe because Ive spent too much time in Ikea looking at their frames, but his drawings and prints are magical. I dare you, try looking though '72 Drawings by David Hockney' and not want to be a gay man in LA during the 60's and 70's.
Well I am back in Brighton and have been thinking about what this blog should be and what I would like it to be. There are a whole lota blogs out there that are about Fashion and clothes and peoples faces. Well, mine isnt all that interesting so whilst re thinking my blog usage, I decided not to have a weekly outfit post because, well, my outfits arnt all that interesting. This is what is interesting:
My work (hopefully!) Artists I find for my context sketchbook Crafty projects I use to avoid doing actual work Brighton University WI (Super interesting) Gallery Exhibitions coming up And Art Reviews of galleries, Exhibitions, Arty things
So those are my new topics for monthly and weekly posts.
Hello. I'm studying Fine Art Printmaking in Brighton and needed somewhere to put everything. So a space on the web seemed appropriate. I'll put progress of my work, little notes about my life and maybe the odd joke.
